Biking in Vietnam
Viet Nam with its new open policy, its exquisitely beautiful scenery and its 4,000 years of glorious history is one of the most attractive tourists destinations in the world. There is always something to do and someone to help you. This small country has suffered much in its thousand year struggle for independence. Now through its government's careful policies and the energy and determination of its people, Vietnam is becoming a major new market and economic force.Experience both the buzzing energy of a revitalized Saigon and a countryside where the customs and the pace of life have not changed for hundreds of years. Travel to Ha Noi the charming capital with its numerous lakes and elegant buildings.
Enjoy Viet Nam's rich history in its temples and pagodas, the natural beauty of the Mekong Delta with its floating markets and natural waterways, the Truong Son mountains that stretch the length of the country, the wonder of Ha Long bay with its spectacular 3000 islands and 3,260 km of coastline with numerous, secluded, palm-fringed, white sand beaches.
Mekong Delta
In Vietnam, the Mekong delta is quite flat, easy for cycling around and explore the delta locals. Not only in the river the source of all nourishment, but it’s also the marketplace. In Can Tho’s floating market you’ll find evidence of the Mekong Delta’s rich rice crop, as well as the area’s abundant fish, fruit and vegetables. And you’ll get a sense of the river’s role as a highway. It remains the delta’s key link to the outside world.
The pace of life remains slow in the Mekong Delta, the daily routine little changed for centuries. As you ride over small bridges, looking down the small canals which criss-cross the area, modern life and its worries will seem a world away.
Best coastal scenery
Vietnam has more than 3,000 km of coastline with hundreds of beaches from north to south. Our cycling trip will bring you through charming hideaway beaches: Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An, Nha Trang - Dalat, Phan Thiet...
Best mountain scenery
Taking the long road through the North West traverlleres enter a remote land of mountains and colorful tribespeople whose songs of love ring out about the din of the Sarturday & Sunday market. The northwest loop is a fantastic route for cyclist. Save your 2 weeks for over 1,000km cycling from BaBe national park to BaoLac, BacMe, HaGiang, HoangSuPhi, BacHa, LaoCai, Sapa, LaiChau, DienBien, SonLa etc.... this is the best cycling route in Vietnam so far. A shorter trip would be one week from Sapa to TamDuong, LaiChau, DienBien then flight back to Hanoi or keep on cycling adventure to Laos via TayTrang border crossing.
The ride towards Sapa from TamDuong meanders through grass valleys to climb alongside crescent paddies and corn fields into a ring of mountains the French once dubbed the "Tonkinese Alpes". Above all else towers Fansipan, at 3,143 metres Vietnam’s highest peak. The mountain pass 15km outside Sapa is the highest one in Vietnam ~ 2,000 meters above sea level.
